I was thinking about the preaching and teaching I’ve heard about the whole armor of God and how the purpose for the armor is rarely discussed. We tend to get ready, polish our armor but never go to battle. Hearing the armor teaching is not enough, it takes going to war to see how awesome Jesus is as He saves, heals and delivers the world from the works of the enemy.

Our warfare looks different because so much of it is Spiritual. No one holds his sword out and yells, “Attack!”, and yet when we sit down to worship, pray and intercede that's exactly what has happened. We have drawn our swords and attacked. We have entered the field of battle, and the Victory battle flag, carried by Jesus, is flying over us as we are taking down the enemy and his strongholds.

Our warfare takes on many different aspects. Sometimes it looks like witnessing to the love of God on the street. Sometimes it’s prayer and intercession where we take down the enemy that is laboring in the systems that work against Jesus and mankind, praying for our communities and many other aspects of war are our fields of battle. While the enemy may try to take us down, Jesus always carries the victor’s banner that we all march under.

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power as you take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Because your struggle is against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

You have put on the full armor of God, so you may be able to stand your ground,  So wear righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the sword of the Spirit, and pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all  kinds of prayers and requests, and pray for all the Lord’s people. Especially those who are in chains.
